Ours is a world of rapid globalization, political gridlock, financial instability, ecological crisis, and covert control by myopic shadow elites. In the short run, the party of exploitation and selfishness will prevail in the current political and esoteric battle for control of the planet. We cannot avoid a short-term harvest of their actions; it is too late to prevent the coming upheavals. It’s only a question of the degree of destruction and the manner of transformation that occurs in its wake. And so we choose to face it all with creativity and equanimity.

But this cannot be done without faith and wisdom. We hold a torch for the radical faith that the depths of this cataclysm will be more than matched by outpourings of grace and revelation.

Yes, there may well be a coming perfect storm of economic meltdown, global war, peak oil, population die-off, plagues, and ecocide—but we are equal to all of that. We fully expect the “revenge of Gaia”—the earth’s own self-purging. But we will also revel in those spiritual and human resources that will uphold and guide the survivors in the New Era.

So this, then, is the new radical wisdom: detached joy and cocreative courage in the face of a genuine apocalypse.

And so, having confronted all denial, having embarked on the necessary “shadow work,” having realized that the “dark forces” can be forgiven, having begun our preparation for all contingencies, we’re now prepared to discover the politics and spirituality of the coming integral age—the era of radical wisdom and planetization.
